Artist's statement
For me, creating is all about the process—bringing together elements that resonate with me. There is no pre-planned or structured idea. Since I work exclusively with the three primary colors, along with black and white, mixing and developing my desired color palette becomes an integral part of the process, gradually evolving along the way. My work is driven by emotion, resulting in a vibrant feast of colors left open to the viewer’s interpretation.
Biography
I was born and raised in South Africa and obtained a Bachelor's degree in Education: Foundation Phase. My career path changed when my family moved to Portugal four years ago, but my passion for creating has always been constant.
While I love the freedom of working on large surfaces with my murals, painting on canvas remains my first love—it’s where I bring to life what truly inspires me. Acrylic is my preferred medium, and I alternate between using brushes and palette knives.
Art allows me to grow, experiment, and make mistakes, all while knowing that the joy I experience in creating will bring the same joy to others when they view my work. Painting provides a relaxing, open space where I can explore my creativity. “The reward of growing and expanding my artistic skills gives me a sense of accomplishment and allows me to create something visually captivating. I find painting itself to be incredibly inspiring—it’s a tangible reminder that I can create with my own two hands.”
