Artist's statement
Liliana Oliveira’s artistic practice is driven by a continuous search for expression and meaning through the human figure and visual symbolism. With a background in Architecture, her approach is shaped by structure, space, and composition — qualities that are evident in her paintings. Her early work featured abstract and experimental pieces using a variety of media, including acrylics, pastels, and watercolor. Over time, she embraced oil painting as her preferred medium, delving into portraiture and feminine forms, often infused with symbolic narratives. Photography complements her practice, reflecting her sensitivity to light, texture, and emotion.
Biography
Liliana Oliveira is a visual artist born in Porto and currently based in Lisbon. She holds a degree in Architecture from the School of Fine Arts of Porto and has maintained a lifelong connection with painting. Her work primarily focuses on oil painting, exploring portraiture, the female figure, and symbolic realism. In parallel, she also nurtures a passion for photography.
