About
Artist's statement
Art is not separate from how I live—it is a reflection of it. My work arises from a process of deep introspection, shaped by a life of uncommon experiences and a need to understand and question myself. Over time, I found resonance in Wabi-sabi, a Japanese philosophy that embraces impermanence, imperfection, and the quiet beauty of what is incomplete.
This way of seeing the world changed everything. It altered not only how I create, but also how I breathe, how I observe. I became more attuned to subtlety, to the traces time leaves behind, to the poetry of restraint.
In my recent work, I explore these ideas through experimental installations and minimal interventions. I deliberately avoid polished aesthetics or conceptual overstatement. Instead, I favor silence, ambiguity, and openness. I believe that art can offer space for contemplation—an invitation, not an answer.

Biography
José Teixeira Ribeiro is an artist whose creative work is inseparable from his way of life. Marked by extraordinary personal experiences, his path has led him toward introspection and critical self-analysis. His artistic philosophy aligns closely with Japanese Wabi-sabi principles—a blend of Buddhist teachings, aesthetic perception, and ethical sensitivity.
Ribeiro’s work is increasingly experimental, guided by restraint, simplicity, and an intentional naivety. Deeply influenced by the beauty of imperfection, transience, and the marks of time, his practice reflects a worldview that embraces impermanence as essential to meaning. This philosophical shift has reshaped how he approaches not just art, but life itself—even in acts as simple as seeing or breathing.
His installations provoke reflection and ambiguity, encouraging viewers to question their place in the world. By creating open-ended environments rather than offering fixed answers, Ribeiro invites a contemplative experience that transcends aesthetic form.
