Artist's statement
My academic background is in the field of science, but I have always been interested in art and artistic practice, to which I have been dedicating myself more intensely since the 1990s. Attending various art schools has allowed me to develop technical skills and theoretical approaches that reflect my experiences.
Biography
Antonieta Martinho, born in Central Africa, transitioned from a career in science to pursue painting in an independent study program at FBAUL (2009–2014). Simultaneously, she attended the Practical Painting Course at SNBA (2012–2014) and the Experimental Atelier at SNBA (2014–2022). Her interest in experimentation has been a constant throughout her career. Currently, she works with a transparent, flexible support material that allows her to create both 2D and 3D artworks, establishing a unique artistic approach.
